Indigo Café starts a crash course in cooking

Talk about mixing business with pleasure. Malini and Rahul

Akerkar of the Indigo restaurant and delicatessen have now introduced something new at Indigo Café, Andheri, also abetted by the success of Moveable Feast, a catering service launched by their company DeGustibus Hospitality.

Indigo Café dishes out cooking lessons to its patrons. Chef Jaydeep Mukherjee, who will be conducting this course, says, “This is something that I have done in the past at Indigo in Colaba. But we couldn’t continue it due to various reasons. Our regular customers have been asking us to reintroduce it and that’s when I thought of giving it a shot.”

The crash course commences on February 25 and will help patrons experience firsthand how to create exciting flavours in the most simple of dishes. “The concept is called Back to Basics and we are looking at teaching our customers the nuances of a four-course meal. The idea is to make cooking fun,” says Mukherjee. Ideal for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, the menu will consist of soup, salad, risotto and a fish dish.

The interactive course will start 10 am onwards and it will be conducted only during the weekdays. “The restaurant is really packed during the weekends. And those interested will make time even during the weekdays. We’ll have four sessions every day,” says the chef, who wants to make this a monthly or a quarterly affair.
