Pune "Development and environment issues are inter-dependable and therefore it is very important to think about environmental issues while planning for city development", said Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi. He was speaking at the inaugural function of 'Environment Friend' organized for youngsters.

Kalmadi inaugurated the function by watering a plant. He said instead of depending on any government agencies, the change can be brought up by mass participation for the cause. "Pune is a youngsters place. If they decide no one can stop turning Pune into a 'Green city'. After the CYG, Pune can host Olympics and this could be possible only by the support of people here. In such case city will undergo facelift with huge developments ", he added.

Shankar Kalmani presided over the function. On the occasion, Kalmadi also released a Sovenier of Sarathi NGO. The colleges who participated in Environment rallies were given Certificates. MinocherPatel, Vandan Nagarkar, and Vishwas Yewale also addressed the youngsters.

Congress city president Abhay Chajed, Shankar Kalmani, Founder Director Sarathi NGO, Sr. VP of city Congress Deepak Mankar, Opposition leader Aba Bagul, and Narendra Chawhan were among others who attended the function.
