Ludhiana The ongoing digging of roads in I Block, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, undertaken by the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, has created a lot of problems for residents. While once, telephone cables of BSNL snapped, in another instance, water pipes broke, disrupting water supply.

Jaswinder Singh Bhatia, a resident of the colony said: “It is difficult to drive on roads as they are filled with soil and stone. One or two minor accidents take place on these roads almost daily.”

Nirmala Kumari, another resident said: “The MC has dug up the roads around parks.”

Kuldeep Singh, Joint commissioner, Zone-D, said: “I have asked the concerned officer to ensure that telephone cables do not break due to the digging work. I have called a meeting of all officers and employees deployed in this work on Tuesday. I will instruct them to work according to the instructions.”

HJ Block road work still in progress by Neeraj Bhatt on 17 Sep 2009

MC decided to widen the BRS nagar HJ block road to facilitate the road users. They have not given thought for residents their. They decided to aquire 10 ft. road to widen the road and work is still in progress. Road is in extreme bad conditions. MC would have given a thought to build footpath, severage in-outlets and road construction work without aquiring the front lawn land of residents there, which is ultimately creating unnecessary hasstles to residents. As every house has come up with three story buildings and further have given on rent. So every single house includes three different families. till date people were somehow managing to park the vehicles but after this decision of aquiring parking troubles has started taking place. Is MC is there to look after road infrastructure only? Are they not concerned with the problems of local residents. Further still existence of shops in residents exists?? No action is being taken to shut down those shops in front of houses. Seeking revert
