Chandigarh, February 7 The widening of V-6 road in Sector 44 is causing inconvenience to residents. To provide smooth traffic movement on V-6 roads, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started widening road in Sector 44 on pilot project basis. But the residents are not happy with the way the work is being executed by the MCC.

At present, the Municipal Corporation has started the road widening work in Sector 44B and 44C, where the existing V-6 road is being widened three feet each on both the sides.

In the process, the MC has also dismantled the curve channels and has placed concrete blocks in front of houses.

As the concrete blocks have occupied the place where residents used to park their vehicles, they are finding it difficult to park their vehicle especially during the night. For the last two weeks, the residents are complaining about parking problem while the MC has not removed the concrete blocks.

According to the MC officials, the land where these blocks have been kept belongs to the MC and the blocks will be fixed on the curve channels only after the road widening works gets over.

The officials said widening work is being carried out for the facility of residents and they should cooperate with the MC.

MCC Executive Engineer (Roads division-I) Zorawar Singh said by April 30 the widening work will be completed in entire Sector 44.

He said blocks will be fixed in a phased manner in the areas where widening gets completed.
