Ludhiana Three days after a resident of Mullanpur died of injuries sustained in a scuffle with unidentified men, the Ludhiana Rural police have solved the case with the arrest of Kuldeep Kaur, the wife of the deceased. According to the police, Kuldeep planned the murder in connivance with her uncle’s son and lover, Jiwan Singh.

On January 12, Surjant Singh, Baldev’s brother-in-law, filed an FIR at the Dehlon police station stating that Kuldeep had informed him over telephone that her husband had died after being injured in a scuffle.

“Kuldeep claimed that they were going to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Patshahi on January 6 when two motorcycle-borne men attempted to loot them. A scuffle ensued in which Baldev Singh was injured. Kuldeep ran to the nearby village for help but Baldev died on his way to the hospital,” said Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana (Rural), Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

A special team comprising Inspector Randhir Singh, Inspector Gurmeet Kaur and Sub-Inspector Gurmeet Singh, Station House Officer, Dehlon police station was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Paramjit Singh Goraya.

“During investigation, we found that Kuleep had illicit relations with Jiwan. Jiwan confessed to the crime and has been arrested,” said Bhullar.

A blood-stained stone, which was used to kill Baldev, has also been recovered.
