Wild dogs attack, kill black buck

Ludhiana, January 11 Wild dogs attacked and killed a black buck today morning. The incident occurred in the forest area on the banks of Sutlej river in Laddowal.

The attack has left another black buck injured. The animal is undergoing treatment at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU).

While District Forest Officer Mahavir Singh was not available for comment, it is learnt that these two black bucks had come near the area in the forest where the carcasses of cattle are dumped. At this spot, there are many wild dogs which feed on these carcasses. These dogs are very ferocious. The black buck is a protected specie under Schedule 1 of the Wild Life Protection Act.
