The civic administration will make the norms public for suggestions and objections after the final approval of general body. The norms will be finalised after being re-tabled in the general body and will be sent to the state government for approval.
Residential buildings in the congested as well as non-congested areas should henceforth make provision of parking space for three cars, four scooters and two cycles for every tenement of 150 sq metres and above in the residential buildings instead of the provision for two cars, two scooters and two cycles now.
For tenements admeasuring 80 - 150 sq metre in residential buildings, there should be parking space for two cars, three scooters and four cycles as against one car, two scooters and two cycles now.
However, there is no change for tenements in the 40-80 sq metres and up to 40 sq metres wherein provision of parking space for one car, four scooters and four cycles remain.
While the PMC has made it mandatory for IT buildings to provide parking space for five cars, 12 scooters and 4 cycles, it increased the parking provision for 4 and 5 star hotels so as to provide for five cars, six scooters and four cycles for every five guest rooms.
Besides, the additional parking area for aggregate provision of all utilities such as banquet hall, health club, shopping, coffee shop and open cafeteria are also to be made separately as per the parking norms for mercantile users.
In mercantile section, parking provision norms have been doubled to four cars, 12 scooters and four cycles.
The PMC has doubled the provision of parking space in theatres, multiplexes, cinema houses and concert halls by making parking compulsory for six cars, 20 scooters and 10 cycles.
The parking norms for mangal karyalaya and community hall have also been increased to five cars, 20 scooters and eight cycles from the existing provision of three cars, 12 scooters and four cycles.
For schools, the PMC has made it mandatory for providing parking space to two buses and 60 cycles with no provision for scooters for every three classrooms.
Similarly, the norms for parking provision in colleges for scooters and cycles in colleges have been increased to 90 and 30 from existing 20 and 10 respectively.
The PMC has also increased the parking space at government and semi-government offices by making provision for four cars, 20 scooters and four cycles in place of the existing provision for two cars, 20 scooters and four cycles.
The parking norm for restaurants with provision for two cars, eight scooters and four cycles has been maintained. The parking provision of three cars, 10 scooters and 20 cycles also remains.
The PMC has also allowed mechanical parking at sites where the provision for parking is insufficient but only if all technical norms are met.
An independent building which is specially designed for parking shall be allowed within the same property and if some floors of the building are proposed to be shown as entire parking floor then that floor height should be deducted from height of that building.
The provision for basement parking will also be allowed for buildings in plot of 750 - 2,000 sq metres.
