The Nehrunagar police have arrested a woman, Afroze Sheikh, and one Harish Hashmi, 23, in connection with the incident. “The father approached us on Wednesday and we filed a case of rape and kidnap against four persons,” said police inspector (Crime) Suryakant Sawant.

According to the girl’s father, she had gone out to buy vegetables from Nehrunagar market around 8.30 pm, when the incident happened. “My daughter told us that while she was at a cobbler’s shop, a woman who was travelling in an autorickshaw caught her hand and pulled her inside. Another man was already seated inside and both of them clamped her mouth shut. The duo took her to a flat in MHADA Colony at Vashi Naka and locked her inside,” he said.

According to the girl’s statement, the woman had brought the ‘clients’. “After bringing her to the flat, the man had reportedly taken off all his clothes only to be rebuked by the woman, who said that ‘the clients will be here any minute’. The same night, two men came into the room and raped her. The next day, another man raped her,” the girl’s father said.

The woman had reportedly offered money to the girl. “The woman told my daughter that she could earn loads of money if she agrees to do what she tells her. My daughter had pretended to agree and the woman then took her downstairs. Once they were out of the building, the woman began to strike a deal with clients over phone and seizing the opportunity; my daughter had wrenched herself free and ran,” the father said.
