Vadodara A 23-year-old woman was burnt to death by her husband in the Mandva locality of Ankleshwar on Friday night.

According to the police, the incident took place

after the victim, Dimple Patel, accused her husband, Kaushik Patel, of having an extra-marital affair with his neighbour Suresh Patel’s wife.

The victim’s mother, Devila Patel, however, has named Dimple’s neighbour and his wife as the murderers in a complaint filed at the Ankleshwar police station.

Police Inspector R R Patel said: “Dimple had recently been married to the Kaushik. She often used to tell her mother that her husband has been cheating on her.”

He added that Dimple’s mother, a resident of Juna Uva village in Hasod taluka, had named both Suresh and Anusuya Patel as the accused.

“We are investigating the matter as there are four accused and all of them are absconding. On questioning the other neighbours of the village, we found that Kaushik used to come home in an inebriated state and beat up Dimple,” Patel said.

The four accused include Dimple’s husband Kaushik Patel; neighbour Suresh Patel; his wife Anusuya Patel and Suresh’s brother Dhiraj Patel.

“After trying her phone for a very long time, Dimple’s mother rushed to Mandva, only to find her daughter’s charred body inside the house, with all the accused missing,” the police officer said.

He added that the postmortem report showed 84 per cent burns.
