Metro services were disrupted for almost an hour after a woman committed suicide by jumping on the tracks at Park Street station on Monday. Apala Dey (27) who jumped in front of a Kazi Nuzrul Islam-bound train at Park Street metro station at 7.04 pm has been identified as a resident of Haridebpur in Behala. According to Park Street police, a few books and a passbook was recovered from her handbag. Preliminary investigations reveal that Dey was a research scholar of International Relations at Jadavpur University. She was suffering from depression after failing to get a berth in the college service commission’s merit list.
