Ahmedabad A rape complaint was filed against the principal of Nutan Prakash Vidyalay in the old city on Sunday.

The complainant, who is the mother of a student in the school, has alleged that nine months ago the accused had raped her in his office when she had gone to the school to request him to reduce the tuition fees of her daughter.

The victim, a resident of Dariapur, filed the complaint with Kalupur police on Sunday. Deputy Superintendent of Police R L Chavda handling the SC/ST cell is investigating the case.

“The victim has told us that she was raped nine months ago by school principal Jyontindra Shah,” said a representative of an NGO who refused to disclose the identity. A case under the Atrocity Act has also been filed against the school principal.

The victim had approached the voluntary body on Saturday for counselling. The representative of the NGO said, “The woman was very disturbed and she told us that she needed justice or else she would kill herself. Later, she revealed the principal was exploiting her."

The man, who accompanied her to our office, told us that she had remained perturbed during the last fortnight, said the representative of the NGO.

“She said she would take us to the principal and make him apologise but then she suddenly went up to the police and filed the complaint," the representative said.

According to the spokesperson of the NGO, the victim was very poor and had approached the principal of the school to request him to reduce fees of her daughter.

“When she went to meet the principal, he asked the woman’s daughter to stay out and then raped her,” said the source.

According to the representative of the NGO, the principal used to call the woman on some pretext or the other and harassed her.

The victim is a divorcee and has two daughters. The victim was later taken to the Civil Hospital for medical examination.
