They had allegedly killing and robbing a couple in Amritsar last month.
The Punjab Police on Wednesday took them to Amritsar for legal proceedings after a transit remand was issued by Faizabad’s Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Inspector Harjeet Singh of Punjab Police said Kusuma (45) and Rajesh (25), along with three relatives, were running a criminal gang in Punjab.
They have many cases of robbery and murder against them.
They were arrested from their village Fatehpur Sarayya under the Raunahi police station area of Faizabad, said Azad Kesari, Station House Officer of Cantt police station, Faizabad.
The other three were arrested and handed over to the Punjab Police last week. They are identified as Arjun, Satish and Sushil, all between 25 to 30 years in age and residents of Fatehpur Sarayya, Kesari said.
In the first week of January, Kusuma and Rajesh got jobs as domestic helps at the house of Bhupandra and his wife Gurmeet Singh in Amritsar. On January 22, they, in compliance with Arjun, Satish and Sushil, brutally killed the couple, and fled with gold jewellery and lakhs in cash, Singh said.
The bits of cloth clutched in the fists of the victims — which could have been the result of a scuffle with the killers - led to the arrests. Rajesh’s wallet was also found from the spot.
The looted items and cash have been recovered from the possession the mother-son duo.
