Kolkata Top Maoist leader Kishenji is said to have written an open letter to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee stating that the Naxals were willing to talk but will not lay down their arms.

Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee, however, said that he was not aware of any such letter.

“We have not received any letter officially. Therefore, we cannot comment on this matter,” Chatterjee said.

According to sources, Kishenji has said that Banerjee or her representative could come for talks with the Maoists in the Jungalmahal area but without police escorts.

The letter also expresses doubt on Banerjee’s peace proposal and stated that Trinamool was also a part of the growing violence in the state.

Around a week ago, Banerjee had asked the Maoists to lay down their arms and come for talks at a rally in Jhargram.
