With the work to make the Pinjore-Parwanoo bypass a four-lane stretch going on in full speed, Jaiprakash Associates, the company carrying out the project, says the bypass will be ready for the public by August 31, 2010, which is the deadline.

Officials of the company claimed that while only two and a half kilometres of land had so far been provided to them by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the work will gain momentum once the rest of the eight and a half kilometres is made available.

The proposed 11-km Pinjore-Parwanoo bypass will have 15 bridges and five underpasses on the route. The bypass is part of the Rs 600-crore NHAI project to make the

Zirakpur-Parwanoo road a four-lane stretch. Some portions of the land, which come under the forest area, are yet to receive clearance from the Centre.

“The entire land required for the project was to be handed over to us by August 31, 2008, but we got it in November, that too only two and a half kilometres. We have still managed to cover up for the loss of time. The speed of the work is expected to increase once we get the possession of the rest of the land,” an official of the JP Associates told Newsline on condition of anonymity.

He added that the 11-km bypass would begin from near the Mallah road, around 400 metres away from the Yadavindra Gardens of Pinjore, and join the National Highway near Timber Trail in Parwanoo after passing through Horticulture Garden, Amar Palace, Bitna, Tipra and Kamli villages and then the fruit market in Delli village.
