Workshop on knitting held at GNGC

Ludhiana, January 11 A Lecture-CUM-WORKSHOP on knitting was organised by the faculty of Fashion Designing today at Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town.

Dr Charanjit Kaur Mahal presided over the workshop. She said that the task of education is to train the intellect and sharpen the practical skills of students. She exhorted the students to strive for excellence in the globalized world by acquiring knowledge about the latest technical know-how in knitting industry.

AK Pandey, Technical Officer, Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) delivered the lecture. He demonstrated the working of knitting machines too. He also provided detailed information about the machines, the yarns used and various structures of knitting. The workshop proved to be beneficial for the students, as it made them aware about knitting.
