Flanked by Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) officials, Argal was showered with praises by cricket lovers who had gathered at the airport to have a glimpse of the player.
On the occasion, the BCA announced a Rs 2-lakh cash prize for his splendid performance at the tournament held in Malaysia. He was named the Man-of-the-Match in the rain-curtailed final against South Africa.
Delighted Argal, flanked by his maternal uncle Ashok Saxena and others at the airport, said, "Malaysia tour was a great learning experience. Each game gave us a new lesson, especially the one against the West Indies was very tough. In fact, all teams were good and we learnt a lot." The bowler added that he wants to keep the high-spirited momentum gained there and continue it for the upcoming matches.
A group of BJP Yuva Morcha members led by Bharat Dangar was also present on the occasion along with his schoolmates from Urmi School.
Argal, whose parents are settled in Bhopal, came to Vadodara nearly five years ago to learn basics of cricket at the Kiran More International Cricket Academy. He stays with his uncle.
He was also a member of the BCA U-19 team, which won the Cooch Behar Trophy for 2007-08. He took 34 wickets in six matches in that tournament, while in the World Cup, he bagged eight wickets in six ties.
