Mumbai, March 2 Worli police have prepared sketches of three people who robbed a senior citizen at her residence on Saturday — one of the suspects is the family’s domestic help. The police recorded the statements of those who saw the trio walking out of the building after allegedly committing the crime and are now on the trail of the domestic help who masterminded the robbery.

Chanda Ashok Dani, 55, stays in a joint family on the 16th floor of Orchid Towers in Worli.

The family had hired a domestic help — 22-year old Sanjay — a month back after their old domestic help took leave to visit his native place. It was the old domestic help who had had introduced Sanjay to the family.

On Saturday, around 2 pm, two unidentified persons between 20-22 years of age, entered Dani's flat. The trio then tied Dani with a saree and decamped with Rs 2.07 lakh in cash, a gold chain and a mobile totally worth Rs 2.37 lakh.

“There was nobody in the house other then Dani when the trio entered the house. The three tied up Dani and hit her with the butt of a revolver, thus injuring her. We have recorded the statement of the watchman of the building and others who saw the three walk away from the building,” said Senior Police Inspector Bharat Worlikar of Worli police station.

According to Worlikar, the watchman had seen Sanjay meeting one of the accused near the building on Saturday morning.

“We are investigating how Sanjay came to know that there was cash in the house. Also, his acquaintance with the accused makes his role in the robbery clear. We have made sketches of all the three and are on their trail. One team has been dispatched to Sanjay’s native place in Bihar,” Worlikar said.

The police will also question the earlier domestic help who introduced Sanjay to the family.
