Worskhop on anaesthesia begins at PGI

Chandigarh A workshop on Perioperative and Critical Care Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography was inaugurated at the PGI on Friday by Professor K K Talwar, director, PGIMER, at the Advanced Cardiac Centre of the Institute. Nearly 40 international and national faculty members are participating in the workshop, which is being organised by the Department of Anesthesia.

The scientific program began with a lecture on the basics of Echocardiography by Prof G D Puri followed by a lecture on better imaging and knobology by Dr V K Arya. Dr Vijayendra Sudheendra (USA) and Balachundhar Subramaniam (USA) delivered lectures on the assessment of mitral valve, aortic valve, and tricuspid and pulmonary valves respectively.

A book on the proceedings of the workshop, incorporating the lectures delivered and papers presented, was released by Prof V N Sakhuja, dean, PGI. The workshop is aimed to train anaesthesiologists in the use of trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE).
