Yadav ends Singh’s hopes

Ludhiana, February 4 Third seed Ajay Yadav of Chandigarh ended the challenge of qualifier Taranveer Singh of Chandigarh with straight sets 6-1, 6-0 win to move into the second round of the AITA Championship Series tennis tournament being played at Harvest tennis Academy.

In another boys’ under-16 match in the first round, top seed Navneet Kumar of Uttar Pradesh prevailed over Rishab Dev of Punjab with a 6-4, 6-0 win to move into the second round while Gulshan Kumar of Punjab defeated Jotpal Singh of Punjab in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.

In another first round match, wild card entrant Ravinder Singh of Punjab ended the challenge of qualifier Nitin Ghai with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Seventh seed tarun Chopra of Delhi scored a staright sets 6-2, 6-1 win over Naveen Dhamija of Punjab while qualifier Amitojbir Singh of Punjab defeated Shubham Pardesi of Maharashtra 6-1, 6-3.

Another wild card entrant Syed Zohair Raha of Pakistan ended the hopes of Tejbir Singh of Punjab with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Sixth seed Kamal Kishore Madirana of Rajasthan defeated Hardeep Singh of Punjab 6-4, 6-3 while fifth seed Saurabh Raghuvanshi of Madhya Pradesh ended the challenge of wild card entrant Sohrab Kanwar of Punjab. Jaspinder Singh of Punjab sailed into the second round with a 6-1, 6-0 win over qualifier Ankush Arora of Punjab while Jatinder Singh of Punjab defeated Sandeep Singh of Punjab 6-4, 6-1 to move into second round.
