City youths turn to the noble cause, be it picking up the broom to clean up campus, or bringing New Year cheer to inmates of an orphanage

Lucknow University students have pledged to keep their campus clean, even if they have to stoop for the cause—literally. Students group Aisec (a French term that means platform for students), in association with the Lucknow University, organised a drive on the old campus from Gate No1 to the main gate. A group of 15 students from various departments and affiliated colleges came forward to clean the campus. Students realised that the university required an initiative to clean up the campus and so they went around encouraging fellow students to make their contribution to the cause. All the students gathered on Tuesday with brooms and dustbins and went to work immediately. Supported by Dr Nishi Pandey, Dean students Welfare and Director Academic Staff College and safai karamcharis, students found it a a fun-filled experience.

On the other hand, youths under the aegis of Helpage Youth Foundation pitched in with warm clothes, sweets, toys and other goodies—all bought from their earnings or pocket money—and decided to celebrate the New Year season with the inmates of Rajkiye Bal Grih on Gokhale Marg. Kids from 10 months old to 12 years old were all touched by the warm gesture in the bitter cold. —EFS
