Himani, a student of biotechnology, said: “We have received a better response than expected. The sole idea of the campaign is to make students aware of their voting rights.”

The campaign was launched in lieu of the march to be held at the Parliament Street on March 1, when the youth from across the country will take an oath to vote and fight against corruption and red-tapism.

Nipun, another student, said: “To vote is a matter of great responsibility. Youngsters must understand that every vote counts.”

Former PUTA president and member of the peace committee Prof Manjit Singh said, “It is good to see students come forward on issues like voting. The youth have grown responsible.”

The Students’ Council also plans to educate students on the importance of voting. Apart from organising awareness camps, the members also intend to meet students personally to spread awareness on the issue of voting.
