Ahmedabad A city-based youth, Jigar Patel (24), filed a complaint on Monday morning accusing an unidentified motorcyclist of robbing him of Rs 7.5 lakh.

Patel said the robbery took place on Chainpur Road when he had come to deliver the money to one of his employer’s client. His employer, Haresh Majethia had invested in a land near Ranip a few months ago. The money was to be paid as installment.

Patel told the police that while parking his scooter near bungalow number 72 (where he was supposed to deliver the money), an unidentified motorcyclist robbed him of his bag containing Rs 7.5 lakh.

Patel later filed a complaint with the Sabarmati police.

The Sabarmati police have, however, said that it could be be a case of a staged robbery.

Inspector M B Joshi said: “We have registered the complaint, but there are some ‘loopholes’ in it. Several people, including the complainant, are under the scanner. Patel and some of his accomplices are being questioned and nothing concrete can be said at this point of time.”

The police further said that Patel was tying the knot later this month.
