Ahmedabad A 22-Year-old youth from Sardarnagar was hacked to death near his residence allegedly by his neighbour Jaideep Darbar on Thursday night. The incident took place at Jai Shiv Shakti Chappra in Hansol.

Police said that an altercation ensued between the victim, Mukesh Dantani, and Darbar, after which the latter attacked the youth with a sword. Dantani, who sustained grievous injuries on his neck and throat, died while being taken to a nearby hospital.

Dantani’s father, Bharat Dantani, later filed a complaint with the Sardarnagar police, accusing Darbar of killing his son in order to avenge an old tiff. Darbar, who also stays in the Shiv Shakti Chappra area, is absconding.

In another complaint of murder registered with the Sardarnagar police on Thursday, one Ashok Rathod is accused of killing his 40-year-old wife, Neeru Rathod, by setting her ablaze.

On Thursday afternoon, when Neeru was busy cooking food at her residence near Mahakali Mandir in Hansol, Rathod doused her with petrol and set her afire.

Neeru sustained over 90 per cent injuries and succumbed during treatment at the civil hospital.

Based on her dying declaration, the police have booked her husband on charges of murder. Rathod suspected Neeru of infidelity and therefore decided to kill her, the police said, adding that the accused is at large.
