Youth held for murder

Pune The crime branch of Pune police arrested 23-year-old Javed Kasim Sayyed for allegedly murdering a woman in the lift machine room of Chandravimal Society of Tejas Society on February 12.

Police suspect that the Sayyed killed Shevanta Dnyaneshwar Jadhav (35), a resident of Gosavi Vasti in Kothrud, because she refused to have a sexual relation with him.

Shevanta was a housemaid. Her husband had died about two years ago. She was about to get married to a youth from Gosavi Vasti. But, Sayyed, also a resident of Gosavi Vasti wanted to develop sexual relationship with Jadhav, polic e said. On February 12, Sayyed called Shevanta on the pretext of some work. He took her in the lift room of Chanrdavimal society. Sayyed told her that she would be paid well for cleaning the lift machine room. However, when they reached the room, Sayyed sought sexual relation with her.

When she refused, he hit a cement block on her head. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by assistant commissioner Sangramsinh Nishandar and inspector Vijaysingh Gaikwad nabbed Sayyed. Police investigation revealed that about four years before, Sayyed was one of the workers at the construction of Chandravimal Society.

So he managed to take the keys of the lift room machine for cleaning from a resident of the building.
