“The incident occurred in the morning when Ravi Shankar, of Khoda colony in Ghaziabad, was on his black Bajaj Pulsar motorbike with his cousin Mahavir of Narela’s Goga village,” the police said. After the ‘murder’, Mahavir escaped from the spot and is absconding. Delhi Police constable Kailash, deployed as driver with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Anti-Corruption), in his statement said, “I was at the bus stand when I saw the youths driving close to me brandishing country-made pistols. The pillion rider misfired.”
The police said the bullet hit Ravi Shankar just above his waistline. “Since the bullet was fired from a very close range, it got stuck in the deceased’s abdomen. He lost control and collided with a pole,” said the police officer. “Ravi Shankar died at the spot while Mahavir managed to escape. We have recovered two country-made pistols — one loaded and another unloaded - from the scene. The Pulsar had a fake vehicle registration number,” the police said. The two men had no criminal records. “We have registered a case of murder,” said the police officer.
