Kolkata A 28-year-old youth was stabbed to death by a group of unidentified miscreants at Bally in Howrah early today.

According to a senior police officer, the victim has been identified as Satya Prakash Shaw, a resident of Chapra in Bihar. Satya’s body was found inside the NISCO housing complex. The official said that there were injury marks all over the body of the victim. His mobile phones, few local train tickets and two empty liquor bottles were found scattered near the body.

“We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. We have sent the body for a post-mortem. We have initiated an investigation. Old rivalry is suspected to have led to the crime,” said H K Kusumkar, Superintendent of Police, Howrah. A senior police officer of Bali police station said that Satya had taken loan from some local businessmen to start his own business. However, instead of starting a business Satya had spent the amount in gambling and alcohol.

Meanwhile, the body of a 49-year-old man, Debendra Prasad Jaiswal, was also found on Chandmari Road early this morning with several injuries. Though the police suspect that Jaiswal died after being hit by a vehicle, his relatives lodged a complaint with the Bally police station alleging that Jaiswal was murdered.
