Agriculture to reap more in Budget: Pawar

Latur ,Maharashtra, Feb 26: An increase of a few thousand crore rupees for agricultural sector was expected in the forthcoming Union Budget, agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said while addressing a farmers’ gathering on Sunday.

The UPA government had already increased allocation for farm sector in the last Budget considerably and it was expected to be increased further in the next Budget, he said.

“During the NDA regime, the allocation was Rs 80,000 crore and under the UPA government it was increased to 1.15 lakh crore last year and this year, we plan to hike it to Rs 1.40 lakh crore”, Mr Pawar said.

The government has also decided to double the quantum of agricultural loans within the next three years, he added.
