Roadblock however remained for RJD as LJP president Ramvilas Paswan, the support of whose party's 29 MLAs is crucial, met Bihar Governor Buta Singh in Patna and requested him not to invite RJD or BJP to form government.
Returning to Delhi after four days in Patna, Yadav had a 30-minute meeting with Gandhi in the backdrop of Congress extending support of its ten MLAs to RJD, which has 74 legislators in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, in its effort to form government.
Later, he met the Prime Minister for half an hour and later said his party opposed imposition of President's rule in the state and would stake claim for government formation.
"We oppose President's rule. My party will stake claim to form the government after my return to Patna," Yadav said without specifying when RJD leaders would meet the Bihar Governor to stake claim.
Rjd legislature party has already re-elected Rabri Devi as its leader.
Yadav met NCP chief and Union Minister Sharad Pawar and also said had a telephonic talk with Left leaders H S Surjeet and A B Bardhan, who are currently in Pakistan, and also spoke to CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury.
