Chennai,
April 15: UNION Minister Murasoli Marans decision to stay
away from active politics has not created confusion in DMK, Chief
Minister and party chief M. Karunanidhi said today.
When reporters
asked for the DMK Assembly poll candidates reaction after
he met them at the party headquarters, he said: I will
give Marans address. Ask him.
Assembly Speaker
P.T.R. Palanivel Rajan was optimistic and said the issue would be
sorted out amicably. He refused to go into the details.
Maran had left for New Delhi by an evening flight. Union Minister
T.R. Baalu, who had been asked to stay with Maran and pacify him,
accompanied the minister.
State Electricity Minister and DMK treasurer Arcot Veerasamy called
on Maran at his home late on Saturday. Despite all attempts to pacify
Maran, no progress could be made.
Karunanidhi, however, went ahead and gave final touches to the partys
manifesto today. It is expected to be released tomorrow, when the
Chief Minister starts the poll campaign from Saidapet.
Karunanidhi explained poll strategy, model code of conduct and other
election-related matters to candidates at a consultation meeting
that lasted 90 minutes. DMK general-secretary K. Anbazhagan, A.
Veerasamy and deputy general-secretaries were present at the meet.
