Amoco plans $6bn outlay for Qatar-Hazira LNG project

[Details] US-based Amoco Corporation has drawn up an ambitious Rs 21,600 crore ($6 billion) investment plan to exploit and transport five million tonnes per annum of liquified natural gas (LNG) from Qatar to Hazira in India. The LNG will be shipped in special charter vessels to India.

DoT to induct Qualcomm knowhow without valid certificate

[Details] The Department of Telecommunications will proceed with the induction of the WLL technology, though the US multinational Qualcomm has yet again failed to get a validation certificate from the Telecommunication Engineering Centre. Instead, the Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Ltd has finally managed a conditional certificate from the centre.

Cadbury India inventory costs shoot up to 13.5% of sales

[Details] The inventory costs of confectionary major Cadbury India rose significantly to 13.5% of sales at end-December 1996 against 12% of the preceding year. The total inventory has risen to Rs 42.44 crore in 1996 from Rs 30.62 crore. The company plans to spend higher amount during 1997 to modernise its factories and to add to capacities for existing and future products.
