AI, IA fleet beef-up likely to be delayed

[Details] The crucial aircraft acquisition plans by Air India (AI) and Indian Airlines (IA) are likely to be further delayed as the board goes about appointing new committees. The joint AI-IA board has appointed a new sub-committee to evalute the bids for the 50-seater aricraft to be inducted by IA. The IA committee has found three aircraft comparable in technical performance.

Mukand plans 420mw power project in Madhya Pradesh

[Details] Stainless steel major Mukand Ltd will set up a 420 MW power project at Korba in Madhya Pradesh with an investment of around Rs 1,200 crore. This is in addition to various small captive power plants that the group is setting up at its various energy intensive plants.

FIs pull up Rajinder Steels over project handling

[Details] The Rs 450-crore Kanpur-based Rajinder group has run into trouble with the financial institutions deciding against funding Rajinder Steels and Rajinder Pipes cost overruns. The institutions are insisting on a pledge of shares while holding that Rajinder Steels "is not amenable to institutional discipline".
