Bajaj net at Rs 441 cr, calls bonus meet

[Details] Bajaj Auto has reported a net profit of Rs 440.57 crore for the year ended March 31, 1997, up 5.4% over last year's figure of Rs 418.12 crore. The board has decided 100% dividend and also proposes to come up with the bonus issue. However, the board is against the 1:1 ratio, as this would double the equity base of the company.

LIC Housing Fin plans foray into corporate shelter

[Details] LIC Housing Finance plans to enter corporate housing finance in its simultaneous bid to strengthen its existing hold over the core areas of retail finance business. The company plans to extend its reach to tap the housing finance requirements of public sector undertakings employees and also through the corporates advance loans for staff quarters.

State asks Meltron to submit restructuring proposal

[Details] The Maharashtra government has asked the board of Meltron to submit a restructuring proposal before going ahead with its privatisation. The emphasis would be on a complete recast for a better balance sheet and that efforts to increase Meltron's rating in the market before going for privatisation would also be looked into.
