Delhi to contest Special 301 charges

[Details] India is contesting the United States' allegations under "Special 301" provisions that it had failed to protect intellectual property rights. Minister of state for commerce said the US had taken the disputed matter to the World Trading Organisation alleging non-compliance of certain provisions of the WTO agreement on trade-related aspects of the property rights.

EC prepares to slap fresh duty on bed linen

[Details] Even as the shadow of anti-dumping duty on Indian exports to Europe looms large, the European Commission braces to slap yet another round of levies, this time on Indian bed linen. Companies, which could be the worst hit by the impending provisional duties, include Bombay Dyeing, Standard Industries, Modern Terry Towels and Anglo French Textiles.

Cotton mills sore over escalating prices

[Details] The Indian Cotton Mills' Federation has expressed concern over the continuing hike in cotton prices. The problem has worsened this year due to the additional release of raw cotton for exports. The steep rise in cotton prices, ranging between Rs 1,100 and Rs 2,400 per candy, would have a "deleterious" impact on the financial status of textile mills.
