Hind Lever may face boycott as Kerala traders demand better deal

Retailers and distributors in Kerala have hardened their stand against Hindustan Lever (HLL) in their battle for higher trade margins. They have rejected a suggestion from HLL that the burden of higher margins be passed on to consumers.

Dr Reddy's Laboratories net drops 33% to Rs 34 cr

Dr Reddy's Laboratories has registered a 33 per cent drop in net profits for the year-ended March 31, 1997 to Rs 33.53 crore from Rs 51.08 crore in the previous year. The company, however, registered a higher turnover of Rs 249 crore against Rs 220.33 crore in the previous year.

Echo Star Communications plans to sue News Corp

As Star TV's mega $ 450 million direct-to-home (DTH) venture is waiting to take-off in India, Rupert Murdoch's effort of establishing a global media network has suffered a set-back. Echo Star Communications Corp, which was to provide News Corp (owner of Star TV) with a satellite foothold in the North American market, is now planning to sue News Corp for breach of contract.
