On June 29, 1996, I had applied for 500 units of the Unit Trust of India (Equity Opportunity Fund), in the name of my daughter, Vineetha George. The application (number 4298732) was tendered at the UTI's Trivandrum office, along with a cheque for Rs 5000 (number 357330) dated June 28, 1996. While the cheque was promptly cleared from my bank on July 2, 1996, I am yet to receive the unit certificates from UTI.

Neither UTI, nor their transfer agents, Madras-based UTI Investor Services Ltd, has cared even to reply to my complaints since November, 1996. My personal enquiries at their local office here have also not borne any positive results so far.
