Our Bureau

Bangalore, June 7: The Bangalore-based Bal Pharma Ltd has set up a plant for the manufacture of bulk drugs. Located in the Bommasandra Industrial Area, the bulk drug unit will manufacture various products with flexibility of product changeover.

This will enable Bal Pharma to be the first company in the country to locally manufacture an anti-diabetic bulk drug known as `Gliclazide' which is presently being imported, the company claims.

The company also undertook an expansion for upgrading the facilities in the formulation unit. Production facilities installed at the formulation unit include tabletting plant, capsule filling plant, ointment manufacturing plant and liquid manufacturing plant.
