Federation kicks off study on export potential items

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has conducted a study in West Bengal to identify products with a high export potential. The products thus identified are: gems and jewellery, leather and leather products, computer software, marine products, agricultural products and garments.

Railway freight earnings show 12% increase

The Indian Railways earned Rs 16,787 crore during 1996-97 from freight, registering an increase of 12.11% over the previous year.

Menon to move court on CRBMF transaction

The provisional administrator of CRB Mutual Fund appointed by the Bombay High Court, A K Menon, plans to move court to take a decision on the matter of whether monies received by stock exchanges from buyers of securities from the mutual fund can be transferred to him in order to satisfy the claims of investors.
