Powergrid to take ECB route to finance transmission projects

[Details] Powergrid Corporation plans to go in for heavy external commercial borrowings to finance its investment plans to develop transmission projects. It is approaching institutions like European Investment Bank, Overseas Development Administration, Exim Bank and Credit Nationale among others.

Indian firms can attract $2-bn from US: ANZ

[Details] ANZ Investment Bank has stated that American investors have a large apetite for long-maturity debt instruments of the Indian public sector enterprises and financial institutions. The focus will on the oil and power sectors which are likely to raise debt with a 10 to 20 year maturity window.

26 port projects spotted for private participation

[Details] The working group on the port sector constituted by the Union surface transport ministry has identified 26 major projects for private participation. The port projects identified include the Kandla, Jawaharlal Nehru, Mormugo, Tuticorin, Madras, Visakhapatnam, Paradip and Calcutta/Haldia ports.
