ESRI India, IIT Delhi sign MoU

ESRI India, a strategic alliance between the US-based ESRI Inc and NIIT Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi for providing GIS consultancy and services. Under the agreement, ESRI India and IIT Delhi will jointly provide a spectrum of services including consultancy, application development, research, database design, pilot design and implementation of GIS projects. A GIS lab equipped with the state-of-the-art hardware, image processing software and peripherals, will be established at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for providing these services. GIS, which deals with spatial data and is used for the preparation of maps, creation and management of spatial databases and analysis of remote-sensed data netted $5 billion globally.
