SEBI to inspect Calcutta Stock Exchange

[Details] SEBI will commence its inspection of the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) next month. The purpose of this exercise is to check the level of compliance at the exchange level to its earlier observations and also ascertain that the systems and procedures are in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

[Details] The National Stock Exchange has launched an exercise to double the peak time capacity ie the number of trades that the system can handle in the last 15 minutes, to 40,000 trades.

FD ban takes Worldlink by surprise

[Details] The Reserve Bank's notification prohibiting Worldlink Finance from accepting deposits with effect from June 23, 1997, has come as a surprise to the non-banking finance company. "We had already stopped accepting fresh deposits since March this year and decided to resume the FD programme only after paying off the liability," a top-ranking official of the company said.
