Ramaiah for liberalisingIndo-Australian trade policies

New Delhi, July 1: The Union minister of state for commerce BB Ramaiah said he would discuss with his Australian counterpart about technological upgradation of Indian woollen industry and further liberalisation of trade policies in both countries during his visit to Australia in September. Ramaiah, who was inaugurating a three-day wool meet organised by the International Wool Secretariat (IWS) here said discussions with Australia will also include cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, mining and human resources development. He assured the wool industry of all-out support for their higher rate of growth in exports and said the prime minister in his recent meeting with the exporters has recognised the difficulties faced by the industry which would soon be resolved.Ramaiah invited the industry to discuss possibilities of improving marketing, brand promotion and technological upgradation. Earlier, acting high commissioner of Australia in India Rakesh Ahuja, disclosed that Ramaiah would lead a high-level delegation to Australia in September to attend the annual joint ministerial commission and joint business council meeting.
