Marketplace briefing -- Zoom on Marvel

The company has announced a contest for its newly introduced Marvel scooter, which offers a reward of a visit to Honda's factory in Japan. All one needs to do is vist a nearby showroom, zoom around on the Marvel and offer his views on the vehicle. The contest is open in Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kanpur and Bangalore. The lucky winner from each of these centres will be eligible for a free-trip to Japan. For others, there is a consolation prize in the form of `Marvel' T shirts. While the company says that it is too early to evaluate the brand recall, retailers asserted that it would survive once the company starts its consumer offers next week. Most shampoo manufacturers initiate consumer offers like free samples to create a foothold and boost demand. HLL will come up with similar offers shortly.
