Listing deferred to ease pressure on Chinese markets

SHANGHAI,July 8:Chinese authorities have deferred the listing of two of the five companies scheduled to make their trading debut on Tuesday to ease pressure on the market, broking sources said. The Shanghai Stock Exchange reportedly issued a notice saying Yuntianhua Chemical Industry's listing had been postponed to Friday because its listing formalities had not been completed. Another company, Wuhan Zhongnan Commercial Group issued a notice deferring its listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange for a similar reason, but without giving a new listing date. Broking sources said the Chinese authorities are concerned over the flood of listings allowed since June-end as they feel that the market is not able to cope up with the increased flow. There were nearly 29 companies listed in June-end. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
