OUR CORPORATE BUREAU

CALCUTTA, July 22: Anthony Baradoss, currently heading the tyre business of the Dubai-based Jumbo Group of M R Chabbria, is likely to take over as managing director of Dunlop India Ltd from August 1.

It is learnt that Dunlop finance director Kalyan K Chattopadhay was the frontrunner in the race for the managing director's post, which has been lying vacant since MD Shukla resigned on February 3. According to sources, the proposal to induct Baradoss was finalised at the last board meeting of the company, held at Mumbai on July 7. The meeting was attended by Chattopadhay and other directors including Komal Wazir Chabbria, PJ Rao, BS Mehta and TS Shettigar.

Dunlop's spokesperson denied the induction, saying that there was "no truth in the rumour".

Sources said that Baradoss had visited the Sahagunj plant near Calcutta on May 13 and held a meeting with the top brass on the following day at Dunlop House here.
