External debt: still suspect

The reported stabilisation of the country's external debt at $ 92 billion, and the consequent decline in the estimated debt-GDP (at current prices) ratio to 25 per cent in 1996-97 from 33 per cent in the previous year, is good news.

Trouble for Bihar businessmen

Dark days are back in Bihar. Businessmen are already in the look out for "friends" to help protect their enterprises in the state. In a way, they are like politicians. No permanent friend, only permanent interest.
