Maharashtra earmarks 20,000 acres for seven port projects

[Details] The Maharashtra government has earmarked 20,000 acres near Dabhol, where the Enron-promoted mega power project is coming up, for setting up seven projects with an investment outlay of over Rs 15,000 crore. All the seven port-based projects come under non-polluting industries category.

Centre plans more container terminals at JNPT

[Details] The Union surface transport ministry plans to increase the container capacity of ports with the construction of two berth container terminals on build operate and transfer (BOT) basis at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and extension of container terminal and procurement of rail mounted quay cranes at Chennai during the Ninth Plan.
