[Details] The official word about the SEBI board meeting on Tuesday is that badla could not be discussed for lack of time. But several press reports have suggested the opposite: the only reason why the board found no time for badla was the finance ministry's ongoing tiff with the current SEBI chief.

[Details] The chairman of ICICI, N Vaghul should have known better than make an observation that "public sector ownership of banks was the root cause of inefficiency". It is true that political and bureaucratic interference in the functioning of banks has caused havoc with the banking system.
