Centre makes provisions for fixing coal royalty

[Details] The Centre is making provisions for fixing coal royalty on an ad valorem basis. Disclosing this, Union minister for coal Kanti Singh, said her ministry has set up a committee to recommend the modalities for fixing the rates.

One-year moratorium for export, star trading houses unlikely

[Details] The Centre is against granting a one-year moratorium for export/trading/star trading/super star trading houses. However, it has relaxed the criteria by scaling down the growth rate for these exporters to 25% each in 1997-98 and 1998-89, instead of a 100% increase proposed for them for three years ending 1999-2000.
