Wheat dara gains on demand, pulses steady & zeera dips

DELHI, Oct 6: Wheat dara continued the upward march from few days back and moved up from Saturday's level of Rs 518-525 to Rs 525-530 per quintal helped by new demand from Southern states. Fresh arrival of wheat to mandies here were reported at around 25,000 bags on Monday. Maida and suji, on hectic buying from Maharashtra parties firmed up by Rs 5-15 at Rs 560 and Rs 650 per bag.Wheat flour also registered a rise of Rs 5 at Rs 520 on better support from local parties. Rice prices were seen firm. Among coarse grains, gowar white was marked down by Rs 10 at Rs 1250 per quintal. Pulses market was unchanged. The importers were hesitant to make new deals after custom duty was hiked on pulses. Rajmash chitra inferior quality was down by Rs 25 per quintal.Groundnut oil spurts Despite commencement of new groundnut oil from Gujarat, its prices spurted by Rs 20 at Rs 3400 per quintal in markets here as the new inflow was of inferior quality. Sunflower oil shot up by Rs 40 at Rs 2750 per quintal as the sunflower season was over in Northern states. Among oilseeds, mustard laha came down from Rs 1080-1115 to Rs 1050-1100 a quintal following weak prices in Western UP and Rajasthan. Sesame oil remained unchanged on news of new arrivals in Gujarat and Karnataka. Mumbai:Groundnut oil prices improved on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil maintained in the ready delivery while prices slipped in the forward delivery. Groundnut oil edged up by Rs 2 at Rs 244 per 10 kg on the back of seasonal buying while lower than expected new crop supplies kept offerings at a low ebb. In Rajkot prices quoted at Rs 525/530 per 15 kg. The trend was firm in ready market. However, the traders were expecting prices to remain weak in the second half of current month on account of continued new crop supplies. Imported palm oil moved up by a rupee at Rs 271 per 10 kg exclusive of tax on upcountry buying ahead of festivals coupled with bullish overseas advices. In the global market it was placed higher at $555/557.50 per tonne. Castor oil ruled quiet at Rs 266/278 per 10 kg amidst thin trading. Castorseed ready placed at Rs 1175/1181 per quintal. Black pepper flares up Black pepper golden flared up by Rs 200 at Rs 21,000 per quintal on speculative trading. Superior black pepper 12 No was quoted at Rs 24,700 per quintal. Cardamom brown shot up by Rs 200-500 at Rs 7500-9500 per quintal amid tight supply from Sikkim. Turmeric unpolished, zeera and kalaunji, on lack of buying interest, was down down by Rs 50-100 per quintal. Among dry fruits, kishmish surged-ahead by Rs 100-200 per 40 kgs. on meagre inflow from Maharashtra coupled with hectic buying by the Halwais. Fig and pistachio were observed firm while on importers unloading, almond kernel California declined further by Rs 6 at Rs 310 a kg. Copra firmed up by Rs 50-100 a quintal. Silver coins steady Bullion market was seen subdued as gold was unchanged in the absence of buying interest while trading in silver delivery was hampered on Monday on some disturbances in the market. Silver ready however, was seen firmed up from Rs 7360 to Rs 7420 a kg on increased demand. Silver coins was priced at the previous level on firm note amid tight supplies from Rajasthan and Haryana. Gold biscuit was unchanged at Rs 4600 and standard at Rs 4620 per 10 gram as the markets awaited the consumers. Gold prices could not be lifted despite negligible supplies of the yellow metal from overseas. Mumbai:Gold lost gained ground on the bullion market here today. Silver opened higher but reacted towards close. Standard gold declined from Rs 4,530 to Rs 4,515 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat slid by same margin at Rs 4,175 per 10 gm. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) depressed by Rs 100 at Rs 53,000 per piece. Seasonal demand turned sluggish at higher level while profit-taking dragged prices lower. In Madras gold prices declined to Rs 4,610/4,615 per 10 gm. In the international market gold ruled static at $334.50 per ounce. Meanwhile silver .999 commenced Rs 75 higher at Rs 7,345 per kg on renewed physical support coupled with firm trend in the global market. But later on continued supplies pushed prices lower at Rs 7,320. However the market closed with a overnight gain of Rs 50 per kg. Likewise silver .916 moved in both ways and settled Rs 50 higher at Rs 7,220 per kg. In Delhi forward delivery rose to Rs 7,405 while ready delivery quoted at a premium of Rs 25 against forward delivery. In the global market the white metal remained firm at $5.28 per ounce. In the futures section castorseed December delivery declined by Rs 2 at Rs 1154.50 per quintal on light bull unloading. In Ahmedabad prices closed lower at Rs 1132 as against Rs 1137.50 per quintal previously. Ready delivery was available at Rs 233 per 20 kg on account of continues supplies - daily arrivals of 7000/8000 bags, it was learnt. B. Twill higher B. Twill (2 & 2, lbs) marked up by Rs 10 per 100 bags amid concern of supplies which were lacking from Calcutta, where the mills are closed for a week on account of Durgapuja. The sentiment was aided by good demand from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. A. Twill was seen firm at Rs 2225 . on helpful buying by the sugar mills. Harapatta bardana and hessians also traded at the previous level on firm note. Cotton yarn firm Mostly counts in hank, cone and hosiery yarn firmed up by Rs 2-10 per bundle on higher prices quoted by the mills on bullish cotton trends. Deshi cotton registered further rise of Rs 25-60 at Rs 1310 and Rs 1380 per 40 kgs. in Haryana and Punjab on delayed arrivals of new cotton from the producing areas. Current arrivals was reported around 3000 bales in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan mandies. Waste and hosiery yarn counts, however, managed to trade at the previous price level. Mentha oil slips In the absence of support from local and upcountry traders, mentha oil, flake and bold declined by Rs 10 at Rs 375, Rs 510 and Rs 565 per kg. Sodium hydro sulphite China softened by Re 1 at Rs 52 per kg on declined trade enquiries. Other chemicals were subdued at their previous level. Nickel plate down Nickel plate was marked down by Rs 2-3 and traded as per size at Rs 328-377 per kg. following unloading by the stockists as they met their financial requirements. Zinc slab edged down by Re 1 at Rs 83.50-88 per kg as the market was quiet depressed by 50 tonnes arrivals from HZL while the buying support was missing. Zinc dross also was easy by 50 paise per kg. The downtrend was seen extended to copper wire and its wire also which softened by Re 1 at Rs 137 and Rs 141 per kg. However, copper wire bar edged up by Re 1 at Rs 133 per kg helped by the declined inflow.
