Industrialists in Mumbai and Pune were emphatic that telephone tapping was a direct intrusion on their privacy. "This is not an issue of ethics or safety. It is an encroachment of one's constitutional freedom. The law provides a certain framework which logically should guarantee privacy," said a leading industrialist who did not wish to be named.
